Bundanoon - Plastic Free As We Can Be
Reducing single-use plastic in BundanoonBundanoon – Plastic Free As We Can Be
Conceived to campaign and lead by example for the reduction of single-use plastics in Bundanoon by our own Community Association, our local businesses, and our community.
Plant-derived compostable carry bags, food wrap, coffee cups, cutlery, takeaway containers, sticky tape, and mailbags are readily available.
We approached the Bundanoon street-front businesses and asked if they would consider replacing at least one item of single-use plastic with a non-plastic alternative. All agreed! Commendably, some had already been using less plastic.
Our community hall now uses biodegradable rubbish bags and does not allow single use plastic to be used when hiring the Hall.
What can you do?
- Replace plastic wrap with home-compostable wrap
- Don’t use bin liners
- Place plastic packaging (soft plastic that “crunches up”) in a separate place and take it back to major supermarkets that participate in the REDcycle project
- Re-use single use plastic containers as much as practical
- When shopping, don’t use plastic bags for fruit and vegetables (where practical)
